About the Book

From Oil to Web cover Image
From Oil to Web is the conversation about the possibilities and the need for us, as a nation, to make a national shift, the shift towards becoming the absolute FIRST CHOICE when organisations are looking to outsource services that can be delivered digitally, such as web development, digital marketing, customer care, project management, etc. In the book, I propose a guaranteed framework that can take an unemployed Nigerian Graduate, with no skill and no money, and transform them into a skilled professional who is gainfully employed, and equipped with the most sought after skills. The same skills that foreign companies are looking for. The framework here does not require you to leave Nigeria, and the beautiful weather of Nigeria, for those cold countries and start missing the real sun like many of your Japa friends. The book reveals the 7 easy things that individuals and corporates in Nigeria have been using to cash out thousands of dollars monthly. Then the book tells you how to access those things for free, regardless of where you are in Nigeria. My desire in writing this book is to share a secret that has worked for countless individuals around me, including myself, with the hope that I can increase the opportunities available to you, and as many Nigerians as come across this book.

The Oil to Web Project

While the book, From Oil to Web, aims are propagating the idea that Nigeria can dominate digital service provision and presenting a framework that can make that dream a reality, the Oil2Web project is our opportunity to engage with the implementation of the idea. As contained in the book, there are seven major building blocks necessary for Nigeria to dominate the provision of digital services. These building blocks include physical space, technology tools (hardware and software), reliable electricity and internet infrastructure, relevant skill training, client protection systems, task monitoring systems, and a platform to find jobs. The book also shows how all of these building blocks can be accessed for free or at extremely low-cost from churches, schools, private individuals, companies, tech enthusiasts, volunteer software developers, Nigerians in the diaspora, entrepreneurs, and management level employees. The Oil2Web project simply integrates these stakeholders, and organises the 7 building blocks into a system that takes unemployed Nigerian youths and turns them into gainfully employed digital service providers.
